The Hazard of Large Dams in the Himalayas: A Webinar

Across the Hindu Kush Himalaya ranges in South Asia, a growing network of large dams and hydroelectric projects are increasing the risks on communities and the ecology of this highly fragile region constituted by the world’s youngest mountain systems.

You are invited to a webinar with Gyatso Lepcha, the general secretary of Affected Citizens of Teesta (ACT), a people’s movement against large dams, and Parineeta Dandekar, associate coordinator at the South Asian Network on Damns, Rivers and People (SANDRP), to learn and discuss about the need for sustainable and decentralised energy systems or real climate solutions for South Asia’s mountainous regions.

To be in solidarity, we need to understand the complex problem of human-caused changes that are making ecology and communities in the Himalayas so vulnerable. And be informed about what we can do. Join us for a learning and discussion.
