Connecting Solutions – Australia and South Asia
It is widely recognised that South Asia needs a diversity of clean and just solutions. Our Connecting Solutions – Australia and South Asian program brings South Asians, particularly youth, from Australia and South Asia in dialogue. To recognise what equitable and inclusive climate solutions mean in these two different contexts. And build a shared narrative of climate solidarity for South Asia from Australia.
Our stories show that especially women, and youth in South Asian communities are driving solutions that restore their ecosystems and secure their livelihoods. However the global conversation around clean solutions focuses on massive programs which often assume a top-down rather than bottom up approach.
There needs to be a real emphasis on locally sustainable and traditional technologies which communities practice. Watch this video to find out why, and download our factsheet to read more.

If you are a South Asian in Australia, tell us what you think about the role that traditional technologies of our communities can play as today’s climate solutions.
How communities navigate climate change gives practitioners real perspectives on what solutions must look like on the ground. Today there is a growing body of work around the diversity of ways in which local communities talk about climate change, particularly from South Asia.

With the ability to speak the scientific as well as the local and vernacular language of climate change, South Asian migrants can play a vital role in connecting their communities’ technologies and practices to the global conversation around climate solutions. South Asians in Australia can:
- Listen and learn from their communities
- Help communities’ realise the global impact of their local actions
- Build a solidarity story for their communities that connects the ground with the big picture
